Ron graduated from Glasgow University in 1981 and after a move to Cornwall, spent 12 months working in Newquay, before joining Abbott, Polden and Draper in Bodmin in 1982. Following the retirement of Tony Polden from the Bodmin practice, Ron Fraser became a partner in 1990 and the practice name changed to Abbott Draper & Fraser. Peter Abbott retired in 2005 and with the retirement of Simon Draper in 2010 the practice name changed to Harleigh Vets Limited. Ron's main interests have always been with farm animals and equine work, with particular focus on dairy health and fertility.

Alistair Todd
Alistair Todd
BVSc MRCVS

Alistair graduated from Bristol University in 1999. His career began in Cheshire, working in a busy mixed practice. After 2 1/2 years he got itchy feet and spent a year working, travelling and snowboarding in New Zealand. Upon returning to the UK he worked for Scott-Dunn's Equine Clinic where he saw more horses than he had hot dinners! During his time there clients included the Queen (Windsor Castle, Hampton Court and Buckingham Palace), Prince Charles and Elton John. He was also regularly on duty at Kempton, Sandown and Epsom Racecourses as well as Guards Polo Club, Royal Windsor Horse Show, Hambleden Horse Trials and Point-to-Points. Alistair's main interest lies in the equine side of the practice particularly, dentistry and lameness investigations as well as infectious diseases (BVD, Johne's etc) on the farm side . Dominic Anderton
Dominic Anderton
BVSc MRCVS

Dominic came to Harleigh Vets in 1994 after qualifying from Liverpool University. He is married to Tracy, also a vet and they have three young boys. He returned to Bodmin in 2003 after spending two years in Truro and three years in Saffron Waldon. He has a special interest in cattle and sheep health and production. His time off is spent cycling, surfing, growing his own vegetables and DIY.

Hazel Clewley
Hazel Clewley

Hazel moved to Cornwall and joined the practice in 2008. She graduated from the RVC in 2005 and spent a "character building" 18 months in Australia at the sharp end of mixed practice in a small, isolated, rural practice. A weekend on call could include performing caesarians on multiple cows, dogs bitten by tiger snakes and treating injured kangaroos. She returned to England to work in Hertfordshire, and now settling in Cornwall to concentrate on her interest in equine practice and take up her passion for competitive riding again.

Marianne joined the Harleigh practice in 2005. She took an extended break in 2007 to go travelling and undertook charity work in India with street cows and donkeys. She is very involved in suckler cow management and fertility.

Pippa Coard
Pippa Coard
BVetMed MRCVS

Pippa (known to most as Pip) graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2010 and joined the Churchend veterinary team following a year working in rural Scotland. Pippa's interest is in cattle work and has been involved in the majority of routine fertility work and herd health planning for the Churchend practice. She also conducts the flock health side of the practice work and has been running the wormer resistance plans for farm clients. In her spare time, Pippa is usually found accompanied by her Labradors, working them on the local shoots. She enjoys both game and clay shooting, surfing, kayaking and skiing.

Amy Jones

Amy graduated from Bristol in 2005, having spent most of her training and work experience "seeing practice" at Pelyn. She then spent 3 years as a farm animal vet in Bude, concentrating her efforts on mastitis when not Tb testing. In October 2008, she came home and re- joined the Pelyn team . Never happy unless elbow deep, her main interests are fertility and mastitis control. In her spare time she can either trekking around the coast paths with her dogs or riding her mountain bike.

Katy Hawksworth

Katy graduated in 1999 from Edinburgh, she worked in a large animal practice in the midlands before moving down to Cornwall in early 2000. Katy is from a farming family and enjoys the outdoor life.

She likes all aspects of veterinary work but prefers farm animal practice especially health planning, mastitis investigations and bull fertility testing. Outside work she likes exploring the Cornish countryside with her rescue Springer Spaniel who more often than not takes her for a walk, swimming and gardening. Katy also enjoys cooking especially making cakes usually with hidden vegetables!! Just to make sure you get one of your five a day.

Ben Hutley

Ben, a local dairy farmers son has principally worked in the South Westsince graduating with a short stint in a large dairy practice in New Zealand. He also spent a couple of years working in the Farm Department of Bristol Vet School where he gained a further qualification in cattle in 2008. Although his main interests lie with cattle, he also has developed a real interest in flock performance analysis and camelids.

When not working he enjoys spending time with his young family and getting out on his bike.

Serena Newton
Serena Newton
BVetMed MRCVS

Serena graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015 and has been working with us since. She grew up on the sunny Isle of Wight where she worked on her local dairy farm. From milking and disbudding to shampooing and showing, she developed a particular interest and fondness of cattle. She has carried out research in calf colostrum management but especially enjoys fertility work. She has completed courses in advanced bovine ultrasound and AI, and finds there’s nothing better than helping deliver a live calf (even if it is in the middle of the night!). Outside of work she loves spending time with her family and friends.

Phil Dawber
Phil Dawber

Phil moved to Cornwall in 2016 with his wife and 2 year old son. He qualified from Bristol university in 2008 and worked in predominantly farm animal practices in Carmarthenshire and Worcestershire since then. His main interests lie in improving productivity on farms by controlling diseases and improving fertility: problems he will quite happily discuss over a cup of tea! Outside of the veterinary world he enjoys running, fishing and kayaking with his terrier Lucy. He is the current world record holder for the longest distance run in 24 hours by a relay team, and is always looking for an excuse to get his running shoes on.

Joanna Crooke

Joanna graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017 and has returned to the South West having grown up on a sheep and beef farm in Devon. Given her farming background, she is naturally keen on large animal work in particular flock health and production. Joanna has completed research in lameness in the dairy industry, and has also developed an interest in fertility. In her spare time, Joanna is keen on keeping fit, having run the London Marathon as well as participating in cycling and triathlon events. She also enjoys exploring the countryside so is looking forward to being based in Cornwall and visiting the many beaches locally!

Kitty Jenkins

Kitty has recently joined us in 2016 after graduating from the University of Liverpool. She grew up on a small national hunt stud farm and gained a strong interest in stud medicine and equine lameness. After moving to Cornwall at the age of 14 she also became interested in cattle fertility. She is happy to have returned to her home county to work and cannot wait to conquer walking along the entirety of the Cornish coast with her dog Dixie. On the weekends she enjoys chasing her dog around an agility arena and spending time with her family in Penryn.

Justyna Sokol
Justyna Sokol

Justyna comes from Poland, since early childhood she always knew that she wanted to work with animals. She graduated from Warsaw University of Life Science in Poland in 2014, whilst studying she started gaining practical experience in a small animal clinic and clinic for horses. Following graduation she has worked with large animals, mostly dairy cattle. Her main interest lies in fertility and internal medicine work. Now she`s doing her PhD studies where she is expanding her knowledge of animal husbandry. In her free time she likes to read novels, during the winter she loves to ski and in the summertime likes to swim in sea.

Stefan graduated from The University of Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest in 2012 and spent time working in Romania with large animals, before moving to the U.K . in September 2016. He enjoys all aspects of large animal practice and particularly enjoys large animals medicine. Outside of work, he likes going to the gym and spending time outdoors; walking and fishing.
